Product description:
The Manuka Tree, native to New Zealand, produces a popular caramel flavoured Manuka honey with unique and powerful antibacterial properties.
These antibacterial properties are measured by a registered standard called UMF (Unique Manuka Factor). BeesOnline UMF Manuka honey is verified and tested by an independent laboratory that grades our Manuka honey and gives it a UMF number (e.g. UMF 15+). The UMF number represents a certified measure of the 'non peroxide activity' of Manuka honey i.e. the specific antibacterial strength in the manuka honey.
Waikato University developed the UMF grading system and conducted extensive studies over a period of more than 15 years on UMF Manuka Honey’s antibacterial properties and applications. Research and clinical trials by Dr. Peter Molan from Waikato University prove the efficacy of UMF Manuka Honey. UMF Manuka has been found to be effective against a wide range of bacteria including:
• helicobacter pylori • staphylococcus aureus and escherichia coli •streptococcus pyogenes
The UMF name is a registered trademark of the Active Manuka Honey Association (AMHA). The use of the UMF name is strictly under license by the AMHA to registered Honey producers and is a guarantee for consumers that the Manuka honey has been tested for its active properties. For more information please click through to go to the AMHA website.
It can be taken 1 hr before meals on toast or bread or on its own by the spoonful. It can also be used in tea or coffee.
